Jia Lin is no longer alone in having been awarded his PhD title. John Mathews has successfully completed PARDEM project 7 and has been awarded the degree of "Doctor rerum naturalium technicarum" for his thesis "Investigation of granular flow using silo centrifuge models"! He successfully defended his thesis on 22 October 2013 at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU). You can view the thesis abstract here.
The PARDEM final event was held at September 16th - 17th in Stuttgart, Germany and connected with the PARTICLES conference there. In addition to ESRs presenting their final PARDEM results with presentations and poster sessions, some discussion sessions on issues commonly encountered when modeling with DEM were organised.
Please find the outcomes of the discussion sessions here.
Jia Lin is the first PARDEM ESR who obtained his PhD title! All PARDEM colleagues congratulate Jia with this great achievement! Dr. Lin received his title at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna after his successful defense on March 25th, 2013. He graduated with Professor W.
